You can't ride just any racing bike, but you need a track bike.
This type of bicycle must be light and rigid, generally made of carbon (frame and wheels) and has several features, the main ones being the following:
- It is equipped with a fixed sprocket, without a freewheel or derailleur, which forces the cyclist to pedal continuously to maintain movement and avoid stopping or losing balance.
- It does not have brakes.
- The minimum weight allowed for the bicycle, established by the International Cycling Union, is 6.8 kg.
- The rigidity of the frame is essential to ensure better management of stress during acceleration.
