The 112th edition of the Tour de France is approaching, it will start on Saturday, July 5th from the beautiful Lille and will conclude on Sunday, July 27th in Paris, with the iconic passage on the Champs Elysées, after covering 3,338.80 kilometers. Unlike the last three editions - starting respectively from Denmark (2022), Spain (2023), and Italy (2024, with the Grand Départ from Florence) - the 2025 Tour will take place entirely within the borders of France.
A journey lasting 3 weeks in nearby France that will excite us, will keep us glued to the television or, for the luckiest, cheering by the roadside…
So happy Tour de France 2025 to everyone!
The stage route will cross 11 regions and 34 departments, developing in a counterclockwise direction. After departing from the north of the country, the race will wind along the Atlantic coast to Brittany, then head towards central France. Subsequently, the route will tackle the Massif Central, make stops in the Pyrenees, and ascend through the Alps and the Jura. The final arrival, as per tradition (except for 2024, when the conclusion was in Nice due to the Paris Olympics), will be in the heart of the French capital, in front of the magnificent Arc de Triomphe.
184 riders, representing 23 teams, will line up at the start on Saturday, July 5.
After the Spring Classics, the Giro d'Italia, and the Dauphiné, the Tour de France 2025 will once again be the opportunity to admire the best athletes in the world riding the best road bikes in the world… The various teams will showcase the top-of-the-line models from different brands, the result of extensive research and development, technology, and the selection of high-quality components!
All this to achieve a single goal: victory!
Here are some of the strongest teams participating in the 112th edition and the bike brand that will accompany them stage by stage:
The route chosen for this 2025 edition promises to be challenging and demanding, characterized by several climbs, few time trials, and above all, many opportunities to ignite competition and keep us on our toes. With the exception of time trial specialists, every type of rider will find favorable ground to emerge in the group, although it will mainly be the climbers who will shine.
The itinerary, which also includes some novelties compared to the tradition of the Tour, leaves room for the athletes' interpretation and their attitude in tackling stage after stage, because it is not the road that determines the course of the competition but the riders!
The total kilometers that all teams will travel up and down France will be 3,338.80 km, about seventy less than the previous year, divided into 21 stages, only two of which exceed 200 km, and accompanied by two rest days. The overall elevation gain is truly remarkable: a staggering 52,500 meters, a figure that underscores the toughness of the route.
As with any respectable competition, the question arises spontaneously: “Who will win?” and bets and predictions open up…
Certainly, the duel between Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates XRG) and Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a bike) will keep us on the edge of our seats again, two champions who have already proven their talent and fair play in past editions. Pogačar has three victories (2020, 2021, and 2024), while Vingegaard follows closely with two (2022 and 2023), with only the two of them stepping onto the highest podium for the past 5 years.
But we are sure that other important names like Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) will be ready to aggressively insert themselves and make their mark!
The time trials and alpine climbs could prove crucial for the overall standings. The big names are in great shape, but the presence of solid outsiders guarantees the Tour an unpredictable and spectacular breath.
The Tour de France 2025 will be broadcast in full from the start of each stage. In Italy, fans will be able to follow it live on Rai: the initial phases will be aired on RaiSport, while the final will also be broadcast on Rai2. Everything will also be available for free streaming through the Rai Play platform.
The broadcasting rights belong to the Discovery group, which will ensure live coverage on Eurosport as well.
