Padlocks

As far as bike padlocks are concerned, there is no one ideal solution for everyone; they guarantee different levels of security, but they also depend on the value of the bike (economic and sentimental) and on the place you ride/are parked. Once these considerations have been made, we can say that at Cicli Mattio you can find different models and prices of bike locks, but they all fulfil their function: to protect your bicycle as much as possible.

The most common models are:

• chain: this consists of rigid metal rings (usually steel), chained together and covered with a polyamide or fabric tube. It is very common and appreciated for the level of security it ensures.
  
  
• cable: consists of a steel cable covered in plastic to prevent scratching the bike. Some variants can be coiled to facilitate transport and flexibility. 
  
  
• U-shaped: rigid and bulky, but offers a high level of security. It consists of a steel U covered in plastic to protect the bike parts.
  
  
• foldable: This is made up of several rigid metal segments that can be folded together like a metre, making it easy to shape and transport.

In addition, there can be padlocks in both keyed and numbered combination variants. 
The keyed versions are the most popular and usually have two or three keys, and are sometimes equipped with an LED light (depending on the price of the product). The combination padlock, on the other hand, has another advantage: it is not necessary to remember to carry (and not lose) the key, but it is essential to memorise the combination.

Chain padlocks are made of rigid metal links and protection against theft depends substantially on the size of the individual links: the stronger they are, the better! Of course, more security also means more weight to carry. The chain lock is also very popular as an additional security element, to provide additional protection, attached to the rear wheel for example.
