Bike bottle holder cutline

When cycling, the number one rule is to stay hydrated by carrying enough water or supplements for the time you spend in the saddle, whether during a race or a leisure ride. That's why we recommend choosing a high-quality cycling water bottle and pairing it with a bottle cage that is practical and comfortable for you.

The bottle cage is the "shell" that holds the bottle, usually mounted on the bike frame, allowing cyclists to easily carry essential hydration reserves during training sessions, races, or casual rides with friends. The placement of both the bottle cage and the bottle ensures easy access, so cyclists can drink while continuing to pedal without interruption.

Practicality is everything when you're on the move!

How to choose a bike bottle cage

A bicycle bottle cage must be easily accessible, comfortable, yet sturdy and durable over time.

Carbon fiber is the material most favored by cyclists. Highly appreciated for its lightness and sleek aesthetics, it also offers the advantage of aerodynamics, making carbon bottle cages ideal for cyclists looking to optimize performance. There are also metal bottle cage models available, which are more resistant and long-lasting.

Often, you can find bottle cages paired with their matching bottles. Typically, there are two standard-sized mounting screws on the frame, allowing you to install versatile bottle cages made of plastic, metal, or carbon, which can accommodate bottles ranging from 0.40 to 0.75 liters.

What are the main types of bicycle bottle cages?

There are 3 main options for mounting a bottle cage on a bicycle:

  • Oblique bottle cages: these are mounted on the frame's down tube through holes that are standard on almost all bike models and are a convenient and practical solution for easily reaching the bottle. They are the most common in the various cycling specialties.
  • Handlebar bottle cages: they are fixed to the innermost part of the handlebars so as not to interfere with the cyclist's movements for gear changes and braking. They are particularly popular with commuters and those who use their bicycle for daily travel and commuting and want immediate access to the water reserve.
  • Under-seat bottle cages: ideal for those who want to be aerodynamic and fast, they are fixed to the seat tube.
