Vigor was founded in the 1920s in the Turin area, but its true rebirth took place in 1992 thanks to the commitment of Silvio and Claudio Mattio together with Giuseppe Olivero and Giuseppe Monge, passionate cyclists who created the youth Vigor in Piasco, a small town that became the cradle of Piedmontese and national cycling. With the new youth team, Vigor officially entered the Italian Cycling Federation, and the rest is history.
Team Vigor has evolved over time, uniting different local realities and becoming a true point of reference for youth and amateur cycling.
Over the years, Vigor has launched numerous athletes who have established themselves at a national and international level. Elisa Balsamo is undoubtedly the most illustrious name: raised in Vigor, she won the title of world road champion in 2021, as well as numerous Italian, European and world championships on the track.
But the list of champions is long:
Thanks to its solid structure and the passion of its managers, Vigor has collected over 30 national titles in all disciplines: road, track, mountain bike, downhill and enduro.
Vigor has also left its mark in organizational cycling, promoting major events such as the Italian Four Cross Championships, the Downhill European Cup, the Giro della Provincia Granda and the Valvaraita Bike in stages, created together with Cicli Mattio.
Today, with teams ranging from the very young to the elite, Vigor continues to be a point of reference for those who want to grow in the world of cycling. The recent merger with Esperia led to the birth of the Unione Ciclistica Piasco, demonstrating once again the desire to innovate and improve.
Thanks to the experience and passion of managers such as Silvio Mattio, Claudio Mattio and Salvatore Cirlincione, the Vigor Cycling Club continues its mission: to train champions, spread the passion for cycling and bring the name of Piasco ever higher.
